RIBS JSOB: Stanley, Koko and ZZ…

Mix number four in our “Jazz with a Side Order of Blues” (JSOB) series is now ready to satiate your Jazz/Blues hunger pains. Remember, JSOB comes your way every two weeks on Tuesdays.

I have to admit, I’m really enjoying this series and creating these mixes. It really allows (i.e. forces) me to delve much more deeply into a genre of music (Blues) that I have always enjoyed but, unlike Funk or Soul/RnB, was not as familiar with as I would have liked to (or should have) been.

Today we feature one of the masters of my favorite Jazz instrument: the saxophone, along with the woman who is billed as the “Queen of the Blues”, and a man who was an instrumental part of the “back to the Blues” movement in the early 80’s (especially with the work he did for Malaco Records). This week we present to you the JSOB mix number four with:
