RIBS TPTD: Bonus Hours - Bill Withers

OK, quick… name me 5 Bill Withers songs…

Oh that’s easy, let’s see there’s:
1. Use Me
2. Lean On Me
3. Ain’t No Sunshine

and… ummm… that one he did with Grover Washington, Jr. ummm… oh, I know!
4. Just The Two Of Us

and… ummmm, uhhhh… oh I give up!

Ha! That’s my point this week. Bill Withers is one of our great singer/songwriters (remember those? people who actually had the talent to write music AND sing) who I think many people are starting to forget about these days. AAMOF, if you are younger than the age of 40-45 you probably aren’t that familiar with him, at least not the majority of his early work.

Well, Bill has always been one of my favorite artists and has penned many a song that is part of the fabric of the Soundtrack of My Life, especially the +’Justments album which, as you’ll see, is well represented in the mix.

So… the RIBS TPTD has a dual purpose this week, a way for me to indulge in and review the discography of one of my favorite singers and a chance to introduce to you again (or for some of you, the first time) the talent and music of a true singer/songwriter.

OK Fave, exhale {smile}. Hey, couldn’t have not included “Grandma’s Hands”! I just love the live version and the rap he does before the song actually starts from the Live At Carnegie Hall album. I think that this is one of the best live releases I own in my collection and I especially wanted to finish up with those three cuts from the concert… so it got pushed to near the end.

Where did you get the +justments songs? Ive been trying to find them in electronic format for a while. the best I could find was a record but I have no way to xfer to electronic format. Can you post the songs that you didn’t include in the previous playlist (i.e. “Liza”, “Make a Smile For Me”, and “Ruby Lee”
