RIBS TPTD: Bonus Hours - WAR-The Music Band…
Late drop today. Most of the “kitchen staff” is sick with colds and I’ve been playing “daddy doctor” most of the week.
However, for the first mix of the new year (2008! Yeah, baby!) I thought I would pull out a format I used a couple of times last year, the thing that I like to call “Bonus Hours”. In short, BH is where I put the spotlight on only one artist or group, but focus only on music from three specific albums (gotta keep that “triple” in the “play”, right? {smile}). This is a format I’ve grown increasingly fond of (and I sincerely hope you like it too!) and I believe it will become a regular feature here on RIBS during the coming year.
Today we break out one of my all-time, top 10 groups: WAR. The albums we have chosen to focus our attention on today are their first two released (in 1971) under their own name (there were two earlier releases in collaboration with Eric Burdon [of The Animals fame]) and another one of my favorites, The Music Band 2″ released in 1979.
I am so glad that you grooved here in 2007 and I’m looking forward to providing many more tasty musical morsels for you to enjoy in 2008. So… let’s jump on into the new year as I present to you, WAR:
- War (the “3 fingers” album)
- All Day Music
- The Music Band 2

My friend,
It’s been quite a while since I’ve written and I want to be sure to say thank you for all the outstanding tracks that you’ve laid out for me this past year. A lot have been buried but resurrected by you and there were others that you’ve turned me on to. A real and great treat it is to come to your site.
I wish you peace, prosperity and health in 2008!
Kevin

There you go again…got me expanding my horizons
I’m ’shamed to say I don’t know too much about WAR. But that’s why I got you…to show me the light.

I just found your site today, unaware for some time now about the underground distribution push for classic soul. And I have been searching for years for that instrumental version of ‘The World is a ghetto’. At times I thought my memory was playing tricks on me as I asked around if anyone remembered it and only got blank stares from friends who know far more music than I do. So, thanks for the salvation.
