Melba Moore: It would be hard to argue with the statement that Melba is one of the more versatile entertainers to come along in the past 40 years or so. Having performed on Broadway (she won a Tony Award for her role in Purlie), in movies (most recently The Fighting Temptations starring Cuba Gooding, Jr. and Beyonce), television (The Melba Moore Show, a Summer replacement series on CBS back in the early 70s) and, of course, as a recording artist.

Unfortunately, a series of personal and financial setbacks in the 80s knocked her out of the spotlight and has caused many of us to tend to forget how active and successful a recording career she was carving out for herself. Things are much better for her these days and she is now moving into singing Gospel with her new album release, I’m Still Here.
